At the very heart of our spirits is the seed we plant and the grain that we grow, so it isn’t January at The Oxford Artisan Distillery, it’s #JANURYE; a month of celebrating the ancient heritage rye that makes our spirits taste so damn good whilst proudly regenerating the land and supporting biodiversity.

The most important part, without a doubt, is that our spirits taste really excellent, and to that end we’ve worked with one of our favourite bartenders, Danny McManus of Glaswegian bar The Gate (find him on Instagram @danny_mcmaniel) to give you some fantastic out-of-the-ordinary serve ideas.

Oxford Rye Organic Dry Gin & Walnut

Oxford Rye Organic Dry Gin and Walnut

This gin uses local rye that’s grown just 50 miles from the distillery for its base and it packs a punch! Full of lovely subtle spice due to the rye and with the addition of nutmeg, cubeb pepper and zesty citrus it is the perfect base for the cocktail I’ve made today.

To mix at home:

50ml Oxford Rye Organic Dry Gin
15ml Sherry
15ml Benedictine Liqueur
20ml Lemon Juice
2dsh Walnut Bitters
Garnish with Walnut oil

Raspberry Breakfast Martini

(because what is the antidote to Dry January if not a Breakfast Martini?)

Raspberry Breakfast Martini

Spice up your morning with this yummy wee take on a breakfast martini, heavy on the martini... This tasty organic rye vodka is filled with notes of subtle spice and caramel thanks to the distillery’s use of rare heritage rye grains. I complimented this warming caramel/spice edge with the addition of raspberry and orange to give you an absolutely smashable martini, with a dry yet silky-smooth mouthfeel. If you haven't tried this vodka out yet, do it and thank me later.

To mix at home:

60ml Oxford Rye Organic Vodka
10ml Raspberry Eau de Vie
2dsh Orange Bitters
Stir with 1 frozen raspberry

6 o’ clock comes and it’s time for the perfect G&T. This is it.

To mix at home:

Mix 1 part gin to 3 parts Fever-Tree Refreshingly Light Tonic
Garnish with a twist of lemon peel & three juniper berries

Our Oxford Rye Organic Vodka has won World Vodka Awards for its exemplary flavour profile, and is a wonderful sipping vodka for this reason, but it’s also a delicious treat in the Oxford Rye Lemon Drop.

To mix at home:

Mix 1 part vodka with 2 parts Fever-tree Sicilian Lemonade
Garnish with a lemon wheel and ice, and some lemon drops on the side

Oxford Rye Whisky Ginger

Our Pure Rye Spirit is an excellent aperitif, but where this spirit equally excels is as the foundation of this refreshing long drink. This is our go-to when we want a relaxing long drink, but something a little bit different.

To mix at home:

Ingredients
35ml Oxford Pure Rye Spirit
Juice of ½ a lime
Fever Tree Ginger Ale
Your favourite bitters
To garnish: lemon peel and a sprig of mint

How-to
Serve in a chilled highball glass filled with ice
Add Oxford Pure Rye Spirit and the lime juice
Top with chilled Fever Tree Ginger Ale as you like
Float your favourite bitters on top
Stir and garnish with the lemon peel and sprig of mint
